We are leaving the giant ocean going ship of Embarcadero Center descending to Maritime Plaza over Clay Street. "Punch Line, San Francisco. Comedy Club, Restaurant, Bar" is right here. Now you have tree ways to go.

Turning left.. you get to south-west corner of the plaza. Descend down the stairs and get outside to Merchant Street. Walk along the old walls between old buildings with a view of the Pyramid in front. At Sansome Street you can see ubiquitous "Starbucks Coffee", "Thai Speed", and "Bur-Eat-Os". Here people buy their lunches and move to the Redwood park at the base of the Pyramid. By the way, the Pyramid, in my view was not designed as a pyramid. It is a redwood. Now..

Going to the left..
Do not miss the great view of the Pyramid base on the right. From there you can proceed to Montgomery Street or go around the Pyramid and get to Columbus Avenue.

If you keep left, you get to the north end of Leidesdorff Street, get to Commercial and move further to China Town.

Going to the right..
you pass the pyramid, and get to Columbus, Montgomery, and Washington street. Jackson Square Historical District is on the right.

Moving forward.. you can observe the plaza and surrounding views.

Turn left there! You will get to the One Maritime Plaza building entrance.

The Pyramid is behind. Standing in front turn right. Here you can see why I like this building so much. Its structure frames surrounding downtown view into a beautiful picture. It is not like this any more. They redevelop the building.

Turn right and ...

Turning right.. ( but not right away), you can see Icosaspirale by Charles Perry, 1967, and even look inside of it. Use [Esc] to come back, when you feel like this.

You can move forward, get into the passage under the building, and ...

Jump over the escalator, and get to the east part of the plaza. Now you can go to the left all around the building and check more what I mean about "framed views". I think the northern part is incredible. Also you can look closer at the Bronze Horse by Marino Marini, 1967.

Moving forward toward the fountain (without water), and going across it, you have two choices...

Moving forward..you get to the plaza exit through the passage over Washington Street. Look right, it is Bay Bridge there. Look left - Transamerica Pyramid. Moving forward brings you to the Golden Gateway apartment complex. There you can get to Davis Street, and see the Penguin, and enter Walton Square from east. Also you can get there through the bridge over Jackson Street, or using the stairs.

Turning right.. you can get back on board into Embarcadero Center. This is a great part of the tour!

Or keeping left, you get to southeast corner of Maritime Plaza.
