Paulo Araujo Teaches Argentine Tango      

SF Bay Area August 7-20, 2006

Paulo is a poet  of the human body sculpting curves and sinuosities using the language of tango.  His style is unconventional; his teaching seeks to explore more profound levels of human experience and understanding.  People who have watched him work are amazed at how much he is able to accomplish in just an hour.     He personally supervises the class, dancing with both male and female students until they are able to reach their personal limits.   His goals are fluidity of movement, joy in dance, the comfortable     close embrace and working with each student to enable them to find their own true tango.  He has taught all over the world, including many trips to Italy, Slovenia, and Israel.  He has a studio and weekly milonga in Rio de Janeiro, Brasil in the Botafogo district called Café Xango, Instituto Brasileiro do Tango.

Stella will be translating for the classes and assisting with the demonstrations.

7:30-8:15 p.m.            Beginner class            $10 (does not include practica)

8:30-9:30 p.m.            Intermediate class     $20

                                    (both classes plus practica afterwards $25)

9:30-10:30 p.m.          Practica (free with intermediate class or $5 if practica alone)

For any of the intermediate or advanced series at Lake Merritt or Renaissance Ballroom:  $25/class or $65 for the series of 3 with pre-payment by August 10^th.  Checks should be mailed to 30 the Uplands, Berkeley 94705.  Drop-in rate $28/class or $75 for all 3.   Please, no substitutions or refunds.  An attempt will be made to gender balance these classes, but it is not guaranteed because of imbalances caused by last minute drop-ins.  We will do rotations during the class.     Contact Stella at 510-655-3585 or email smling@msn.com for more information.

Private lessons are available

$95/55 min + $10 studio rental fee or a series of 6 hours (actually 4 lessons of 1 hr 20 min each) for $540 (includes rental fee).  Please call Stella to schedule.  Since his time here is limited, priority is given to couples.  Maximum of 6 hours for any couple or individual.  For more information about the Berkeley Tango Studio check out the website stellatango. com.
